Natalie Kucken

It's becoming more apparent that age doesn't matter in today's society. There is no "right age" to learn something. Nor is there a "right age" to be sure of what you're doing. Waiting to do something until you can be sure of doing it exactly right, means waiting forever. So I find it so impressive that young people such as Natalie Kucken are following their dreams at a young age. (I know I am only 21, but it truly is impressive seeing people younger than you killin' it).

Natalie is seventeen years old and has been behind the lens since she was fourteen. Her work has already been published in several independent magazines, a novel and all over the blogosphere naturally. She has the drive and confidence to get her work published large-scale - it's so inspiring seeing a seventeen year old so driven by passion.

I am a firm believer that in today's society you have to start young to get a head. There's no reason why, at 17, 20 or 24 you can't make a living off what you love - all you need is the desire, the passion, the confidence and the drive

You can catch Natalie's work on here blog here or on her official site here

MAD LOVE

As I mentioned in my previous post, we went away for two nights this weekend. Each road trip we've taken over the last few months we have fallen more and more in love with the mid north coast of NSW! Coffs Harbor is the perfect distance for a weekend away. We love getting away - but sometime you just don't want to be driving the entirety of your weekend. Driving sort of takes away the "relaxation factor".

We stayed at a really nice apartment by the beach, ate yummy Thai food the first night, ate the most disgusting Mexican I have ever tasted the second night, screamed at Paranormal Activity 3, lazed about in the sun, ate at a little cafe on the wharf called "Latitude 30" for breakfast both mornings because it was just too tasty not to, looked at op-shops...and the list goes on.

I am wearing: MAD LOVE tank (courtesy of Mad Love), Vintage "boyfriend" jeans, Ebay shoes, Zara hand bag, vintage scarf, D&G sunglasses

I got a few funny looks taking these photos and again when I wore these shoes at night - I felt like I had something smeared on my face or maybe Coffs Harbor just didn't appreciate my $30 shoes?

Hope you've had a wicked weekend, Ally oxo

let's get out of here X 2

Ahhhh, it's that time of year again when the Gold Coast turns even more feral and car racing takes over about four suburbs. Normally you can escape the feralness of the GC if you know where to go and what to do, but when car racing and the people that it attracts are in full force - there's no helping you! So your only option is to drive on babyyyy!

We're going away for two nights and it is going to be great!

Here is a couple of things I am taking with me. I was going to take more photos - but I am sure you will see my other items on me at some point - whether it be on instagram (search: allymaycarey) or an outfit post or two when we get back.

In WHO KILLED BAMBI news: We will be launching our new site very soon. Lots of updates and it looks really pretty and all that. Plus we have sent off a design of sorts that you will see hopefully (fingers crossed) next week. It is fan-freaking-tastic. We're in love, and i think it's safe to say you will be too.

Anyway my lovers, have a great weekend and stay safe and have fun!

Who Killed Bambi swing tags

These are the new swing tags for Who Killed Bambi

We wanted to keep them pretty chic, simple and minimalistic. We also wanted to use the same typeface as what is on our site and incorporate the black and white which is seen throughout Who Killed Bambi.

We're stoked with the outcome. They're perfect for want at the moment - but maybe in the future we'll opt for something a little more crazzzzy

You'll have to buy something so you can get your hands on one ;-)

East of Grey

You would have all seen me mention my friend Kim's label, East of Grey before. Three weeks ago a local paper here did a little interview with her! I was so stoked for her when I saw this. Kim is AMAZING at what she does. And I want to show everyone, just how rad she is. So here is the full interview! Enjoy.

I am so tired after yesterday's shoot - I slept in til 12pm and now all I am doing is eating, reading blogs and about to post off orders and then maybe get a coffee.

Have a happy hump day.

Westfield style session

It's been all work and no play for me this weekend! Yesterday I was in Brisbane all day working with Westfield on a little style session. We modeled three on-trend looks that you are probably well aware of: nautical, white, snake skin and for next month we showcased some race wear trends.

It was lots of fun and a very colourful day. However, all colour was lost on the way home. The weather turned into this terrifying storm. It a mixture between Mordor and the end of the world. When you're traveling alone and it's pitch black at 4:20pm trust me it's terrifying!

I never take my camera to things like this as I am always scared I'll loose it - or someone might get their paws on it, as our bags are always left haphazardly all over the place. I need one I can just chuck in my bag! Those Canon G12's look pretty cool for that. But I have no idea how they are as a camera.

So, here are a couple of photos from my iphone! I guess some badly quality instagram is better than none. I have been looking at getting an iphone 4S - and I think I just may get one over the next week. I think it's time for an update.

On another note: We were busy all day shooting a collection for an amazing Australian label - I can't show you unfortunately...So hang tight until January! But trust me - the images look amazing! I can't wait to show you!

Anyway guys, I hope you had a wicked weekend. I.AM.EXHAUSTED.
