INSTAGRAM

So I'm pretty stereotypical when It comes to Instagram - but let's be serious here, you can't really not be. If you like photos of food, quick outfit shots, Bambi updates, Selfies (what a horrible contraction of a word), more food and coffee - Then my IG is right up your IG-Alley.

FEB PHOTO A DAY

I'm getting so excited for the February Photo A Day Challenge! I didn't get to do the January challenge - so I have been hanging out 20 or so days ( I saw the challenge 10 days late - I do realise there's 31 days in Jan) for January to finish the hell up so I can go crazy with my phone in Feb!

I hope you guys join in - all you have to do is take a photo a day and share it on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, your blog or where ever it is you want to share. Make sure If you're sharing on Instagram or Twitter use the hashtag #FEBphotoaday - that way everyone can find them!

Come and follow my photo a day journey by searching @allymaycarey on instagram! At the end of Feb, I will make a collage of all my Feb photos and share it on my blog for those of you who don't have instagram or twitter!

Let's get creative.

Thanks to FatMumSlim for creating such an amazing/rad concept!

All vintage...

All Vintage
An outfit from my road trip!

(Dress and Jumper Vintage, Shoes Sportsgirl, Bag vintage gift from my brother, Rings assorted)
These photos were taken by Jonathan in Sydney where we stayed.

Our holidays have been so incredibly amazing the past few days. We've seen some really, really nice parts of NSW. It's been awesome to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and not have anything to worry about.

We took our time on the way down south and stopped at cute towns along the way. We stayed overnight in Port Macquarie (I'd  never been there before), and then ventured on to Sydney. We're currently in Narooma, NSW, visiting my parents for a couple of days (thanks for the internet mum haha). It is the first time since leaving four years ago that the nostalgia has truly kicked in - it will be sad to leave tomorrow morning.

So today is Wednesday and it marks the midway point of our little/massively long road trip. Tomorrow it's back up to Sydney, then to the Central coast Saturday and lastly back to Queensland Sunday! Far out that's been a few Kilometres, thank god for Ipods)

Hope your weekend and week has been fun!

Sunday inspiration

(images google)

Lately Jonathan and I have both been talking about wanting to buy a house. We both have really similar style on how we like to decorate places. And we are constantly changing things around in our current apartment - making sure we keep things interesting and fun. These photographs caught my eye - especially the warehouse photos.

Our dream house is a renovated warehouse with high ceilings, polished cement or rustic floor boards, lots of exposed brick and ceiling to floor windows. Open plan living would be really cool too, kind of like on the movie "St Elmo's Fire".

It makes me want to work extremely hard over the next year or two so this dream of ours comes true.

oh summer where art thou?

I don't think it's too much to ask for it to warm up just a touch so I can go and rock these Beatnik Seafolly babies at the beach with Jonathan...whilst sipping on many delicious cocktails...and receiving endless massages and facials...then topping the day off with a dinner and long walk.

Ahh, a girl can dream.

The lovely ladies at SUNBURN sent me this rad stripey 'kini and they are super, duper cute on. The frill bottom makes the 'kini - it's such a simple feature yet it changes the overall look of the bikini. Girls who want to look like they have curves or at least some shape should definitely get on board with this bikini as the frills and stripes give you that that illusion! And the even better thing is you can mix and match sizes! None of this "I can't buy this bikini 'cos the top fits but the bottoms are just a bit big" business. You can buy separates so they fit you perfectly!

Have a awesome Thursday! Nearly the weekend! Wooo.

crystal ball

I saw this face photographed in a lot of street style snaps. I then found out she is in fact a model. So, here you are, meet pink haired Charlotte Free (IMG models). I can't help but love this new up and coming model. I think it's the daring pink hair that has got my attention (how could it not?). At just 18 years old Charlotte is already making quite the name for herself. She has strutted the runway for the likes of Charlotte Ronson, Richard Chai Love, and United Bamboo.

There has definitely been a rise in the shorter models in the past year. Charlotte is only 5"7'- but she's not going to let that affect her. "You cant let what other people think affect the way you think. I get denied every single day of work. Do I let it bother me? Fuck, no. If I did, I wouldn't be here today. So many people think: "Why the F*** is SHE a model?! She is small with pink hair. UGH" And it makes me laugh. You must get used to the rejection and criticism and embrace it! If you do that, there will be no fear whatsoever".

Charlotte's positive attitude towards the modeling industry is impeccable. More people should have this mindset in their every day lives. Too many people these days care about what other people think, so they never reach their goals. People just need to realise- not everyone is going to support you or think you're amazing. It's up to you to realise these things about yourself, that's what is going to get you places. You are the only person stopping yourself.

I am loving Charlotte's personal style of band tees, black, chunky statement jewelery and fur coats. This style teamed with her pink hair makes her look like the new bad-ass chick on the block. I love seeing models who know how to dress. It gives you an insight into their personality, instead of just seeing the "blank canvas" they're meant to be.

What are your thoughts? I think we're going to be seeing her in a lot of editorials and advertising campaigns in the coming months. Her trademark pink hair is going to make sure of that.

LOST CAUSE

With the crappy weather the Gold Coast had over the weekend, we found ourselves indoors watching movies most of Sunday. "1990 The Bronx Warriors" was one of the movies we watched. I loved the costumes/ styling so much I decided to take screen shots and show you all! The Skulls, leather jackets, Military jackets, aviators, chunky rings etc were to die for. It's my style to a tee!

I didn't really pay attention to the plot (so i can't really recommend you see it)- I was too busy thinking about the leather vests, leather jackets and drooling over the rings featured in the opening. A few D.I.Y projects have come to my mind after watching it. First stop Ebay for some more iron on patches. I just hope they make me look just as bad ass.

I love finding movies that inspire you.  I don't think enough credit is given to costume designers- they're the neglected heroes of the film making world in my opinion. So, kudos to Massimo Lentini for the wicked costume design even if i am recognising this 29 years after the film was produced.

As my mum always says "fashion always comes around full circle". And she's totally right. This movie is 29 years old this year and I am still in love with the clothing- as are a lot of guys and girls. Some fashion just refuses to die!

How sick are the skull bikes???

Happy Monday Lovers! This week is going to be a good week.

what is your secret

Hey guys! How has your weekend been? Mine has been super lazy and I needed it! Seriously I don't think I could have conjured up the energy to do much more than: watch movies, eat, drink, eat some more, sleep,  hang out, go to the markets and drink coffee. Sometimes it's nice just to have a kick-back weekend. I think a lot of people take quiet time for granted.

We headed out to The Village Markets after a yummy breakfast of pancakes and strong coffee. I was rather disappointed by the markets today. We got there at about 11:15am and most of the stalls had started to pack up because of the shitty Gold Coast weather. Sigh. It saved me from spending money (which I should be saving), so I guess that is a bonus. I'm saving money because we're gonna head to Sydney for my 21st (it's 19 days away) and Jonathan's birthday is coming up as well. It's basically a given it's going to be terrible weather for The Village Markets- for months now it has rained on the first Sunday of the month. I took our camera to get cute photos of the stalls, but I didn't end up getting any. There just wasn't any point. So we took these instead- a little impromptu outfit post!

So now I am going to continue kicking back. I have a movie on in the background which I am going to post screen shots of later on this week. The styling is radical. You will love it. Skulls, Leather, bikes- Simply amazing.
